David Michael Farrell, better known as Phoenix, is the accomplished bassist for the world-renowned rock band Linkin Park. Born on February 8, 1977, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, David was surrounded by music from a young age thanks to his mother, who taught him to play guitar and remains his primary inspiration. The influence of his older brother, Joe, also played a significant role in his musical development.

After moving to California, Farrell began his career in the pop-punk band Tasty Snax, where he first switched from guitar to bass. He later joined Xero, which eventually evolved into Hybrid Theory and then Linkin Park. His contribution to the band's development is invaluable: Phoenix wrote several songs for the band's debut album, Hybrid Theory, and was actively involved in creating the band's unique sound.

David graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he shared a room with fellow Linkin Park member Brad Delson. Their joint guitar practice became the foundation for the band's future success. In addition to bass, Farrell plays a variety of instruments, including the violin.
