Verstappen's Hungaroring setback: Championship race intensifies

Already during qualifying on Saturday, it became clear that the coming days would be challenging: Verstappen failed to secure pole position, losing his place to the Ferrari and McLaren drivers. The situation only worsened during the race. A poor start dropped him several positions back, and the tight traffic on the narrow Hungarian track, where overtaking is difficult, prevented him from regaining his lost ground. Furthermore, the team made a mistake in tire selection during the only pit stop, which completely deprived Max of the chance to fight for a podium place. As a result, he finished only ninth, losing a significant number of points.

This setback was a real gift for his main rivals, who were quick to take advantage of the leader's mistake. Verstappen's lead in the championship has narrowed significantly before the summer break, and the second half of the season promises to be exciting.

While the teams analyze their mistakes and prepare for the decisive battles, all eyes are on the championship finale, which will traditionally take place in Abu Dhabi. It is here, from 5 to 7 December 2025, at the Yas Marina Circuit, that the world champion will be crowned. This round will be the culmination of a busy season.
